Have there been gains from K-12 education?

Thousands of parents across the country continue to grumble about the K-12 education system. Some question if it will make students brighter and more intelligent, while others complain about the added financial burden. However, many believe the additional financial burden goes towards making children more experienced.

Many parents also hate how education is simply teaching out of textbooks. Higher-ups in the department don’t seem to have any other ideas on practical ways of teaching kids.

Even elementary school students are struggling because of mathematics and algebra textbooks and, as mentioned in previous columns I have penned about the education system, I cited a parent who said their child has one textbook teaching how to memorize musical notes and another that has them memorizing the acronyms of various government agencies.

Parents are seeing these textbooks are not expanding cultural values.

Many pray for a return to the old system, which they believe has produced “better” individuals than today.

While there are those who can afford to send their children to private schools, the cost of education at most Catholic schools is too much for an ordinary employee. One semester at an upscale school is a half year’s salary for the ordinary working man.
