A 2.1-magnitude earthquake was recorded just north of Ayungon yesterday afternoon, around 4:23 p.m.

According to a subsequent Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology bulletin, no damage was reported in or around the Negros Oriental town as a result of the tremor.

There were also no aftershocks expected.

Quakes ranging between 1.0 and 3.0 in magnitude are often classified as a Level 1 on the Mercalli Intensity Scale, where the tremor goes almost undetected./WDJ
