Negros Occidental was hit by two earthquakes Sunday night, with a 2.1-magnitude tremor striking west of Hinoba-an around 8:44 p.m. and a 2.2-magnitude quake recorded west of Cauayan just before 11:00 p.m.
According to subsequent Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology bulletins, no damage was reported as a result of either occurrence. There were also no aftershocks expected.
Earthquakes ranging between 1.0 and 3.0 in magnitude are often classified as a Level 1 on the Mercalli Intensity Scale, where the tremor goes almost undetected./WDJ
