Joint operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Visayas (PDEA-7), Dumaguete City police, Philippine Coast Guard K-9 unit, and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) conducted a shakedown of the Dumaguete City District Jail yesterday morning.
Based on information provided by PDEA-7, a total of 179 sachets containing suspected shabu were found under the facility’s dirty kitchen. A subsequent search of prison cells also yielded several mobile phones, a weighing scale, drug paraphernalia, bladed weapons, and cash amounting to around P210,900.
PDEA-7 estimated the weight of the seized illicit substance at 115 grams with a market value of almost P783,000.
PDEA and BJMP personnel are presently looking into how the drugs and contraband were smuggled into the facility and who owns the seized
