The National Arts Month observance will kick off in Bago City on February 1 with the launch of a scholarship program for artists and the “Sayaw Pinoy,” featuring various forms of dance.
Shirley Halili-Cruz of the Halili-Cruz School of Dance said during a recent press conference, alongside National Commission for Culture and the Arts Executive Director Marichu Tellano, Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod (CSA-B) Culture and Arts Program artistic director Rudy Reveche, and Clem del Castillo, the launch had always been conducted in Manila and, this year, a different form of the arts will be presented.
Meanwhile, Tellano said she was pleased Bago City “took the challenge” to host the kickoff and said the move aligns with the national government’s campaign to bring more resources to different regions.
After Bago City, other cities throughout the province will also hold kickoff events./WDJ
