Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Leonor Briones recently presented the six teachers recognized as “Outstanding Government Workers” this year by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) at the DepEd Central Office in Pasig City. Among those awarded include Anabelle Alipo-on, a school teacher at Payao Elementary School in Binalbagan.
Alipo-on was awarded the Pagasa Award, alongside Lowel Andrian Solayao of Pilar National Comprehensive High School in Pilar, Sorsogon.
According to the CSC, the Pagasa Award is given to an individual or a group of individuals for outstanding contributions that directly benefited more than one department of government.
The cabinet official praised the recipients for “going above and beyond.”
She also credited the work done by all teachers, noting, “They are only six out of the 800,000 teachers nationwide.”
“There are many more who are faceless and unrecognized,” Briones added.
Three other recipients were awarded the Dangal ng Bayan Award and Cristito Eco of DepEd-Region V won the 2017 Gawad Career Executive Service award./WDJ
