The National Food Authority (NFA) in Negros Occidental recently confirmed NFA rice will be available at local grocery stores and supermarkets in the province soon.
During a radio interview yesterday morning, NFA-Negros Occidental head, Engr. Frisco Canoy, said, last September 26, a memorandum of agreement was signed between the NFA, the Department of Trade and Industry, and the Philippine Supermarkets Association Inc. permitting grocery stores and supermarkets to sell NFA rice.
Canoy pointed out, the program is being implemented nationwide.
He also met with representatives from supermarket associations in the province in order to present the requirements needed in order become authorized NFA rice retailers.
The local NFA officer also clarified, supermarkets will be the ones repacking NFA rice in two kilogram packaging as consumers will be allowed to buy at least two packs, or four kilograms, of NFA rice./DGB, WDJ
