La Castellana Mayor Rhumyla Nicor-Mangilimutan revealed a P200 million water project is currently under consideration, saying, it would systematize potable water for the town.

The mayor said she still needs funding for the project in order to cover the entirety of the municipality, but noted preparations for the plan, which is considered a rural development project, is around 70 to 80 percent complete.

In addition, Nicor-Mangilimutan pointed out, a counterpart fund from the Negros Occidental provincial government will be provided for 10 percent of the project.

She noted, Barangay Cabacungan, one of the town’s largest neighborhoods, has its own potable water system.

Nicor-Mangilimutan added, the barangay is also home to most of the town’s water spring resorts.

The mayor hopes to complete the project before the year ends./DGB, WDJ
