Almost 400,000 Negros Occidental students are expected to begin classes at public schools across the province today with the opening of the 2018-2019 academic year.
According to Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division Superintendent for Negros Occidental, Dr. Portia Mallorca, this year’s enrollment is an increase of 2,000 students from last year.
Meanwhile, she also reminded teachers there will be no more cleaning on the first day of classes.
“All students should be inside the classrooms while teachers start their lessons,” the DepEd official noted.
It was earlier reported, after expecting 192 new classrooms for 2018-2019 academic year, a total of 57 have been completed as of last week.
