An 18-year-old was severely injured after she was sideswiped by a delivery truck Saturday evening along Taculing Road in Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City.

Police did not name the victim as per request by the family.

Police Station 6 (PS6) commander, Police Senior Inspector Wilfredo Benoman, Jr., said, based on eyewitness accounts, the victim exited a local videoke house and was crossing the street while texting, when she was sideswiped by a delivery truck driven by 52-year-old None Murillo.

Bystanders helped the victim and contacted the city’s emergency responders.

She was rushed to the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center for initial treatment and later transferred to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital.

Murillo was temporarily detained at PS6 following the incident, although he is reported to be negotiating a settlement with the victim./DGB, WDJ
