Based on data from the Negros Occidental Provincial Health Office (PHO), the number of dengue-related deaths in the province is up to 10 this year.

Records gathered between January and May found Cadiz City with a total of four dengue-related deaths, followed by La Carlota City with two.

PHO added, fatalities are higher this year compared to the same period in 2017, which was eight.

Earlier, the Bacolod City Health Office said the number of dengue cases in the city significantly dropped by 23.7 percent.

However, with the rainy season expected to begin between the end of this month and June, health officials are concerned the number of cases may increase./DGB, WDJ
