A pickpocket was nabbed by Kabankalan City police after he allegedly tried to victimize a reveler during Sinulog sa Kabankalan highlights, Sunday afternoon.

Police identified the suspect as 19-year-old Romel Paril, a resident of Fortune Town in Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City.

Investigators from the Kabankalan City police said the victim, who has requested to remain anonymous, was watching the dance competition in the city’s public plaza when he noticed Paril trying to steal his wallet, which was inside his pocket.

The victim shouted for help, which alerted other festival goers and the police, who are patrolling nearby.

Paril is presently detained at the Kabankalan City Police Station and is facing theft charges./JJA, WDJ
