The Bacolod City Veterinarian Office (CVO) recently reported, as of December 31, 2017, 88.19 percent of dogs and cats in the city have been vaccinated for rabies, which is higher than the national target of 70 percent.
According to CVO chief, Dr. Ma. Agueda Trinidad F. De la Torre, a total 47,627 dogs were vaccinated in 2017.
Last year, Bacolod Animal Welfare Awareness Week (BAWAW) was launched as SM City Bacolod, an observance that included free rabies vaccinations at the Bacolod City Government Center.
Meanwhile, a Community Animal Rescue Efforts (CARE) clinic was also inaugurated at Purok Kametal in Barangay Mandalagan.
Among clients served in 2017, the CVO recorded three cases of dogs testing positive for rabies, in Barangays Sum-ag, Bata, and Estefania./PLL, WDJ
