Provincial Health Office (PHO) head, Dr. Ernell Tumimbang, yesterday said they are currently reviewing hospital protocols in preparation for future cases of dengue fever.
Tumimbang explained they are checking for any problems with hospital referrals.
He claimed some medical staff may be “too overconfident” when it comes to treatment.
“We are not referring patients [when] we need to refer,” Tumimbang said.
The PHO head said they are also looking into the reported overcrowding at the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City.
Earlier this month, PHO claimed 2017 saw a significant drop in dengue cases from 2016, noting the province reported 4,284 cases in 2017, compared to 6,295 in 2016. However, there were 41 dengue-related deaths recorded throughout the province, which is considered an “alert threshold.”/DGB, WDJ
