According to a recent order by Police Regional Office-6 (PRO-6) director, Police Chief Superintendent Cesar Hawthorne Binag, police officers engaged in extramarital affairs face dismissal. The officer justified the position by claiming an officer’s performance in the field is incumbent on how well they take care of their family.
According to PRO-6 spokesperson, Police Superintendent Gilbert Gorero, the order calls for “no mercy” for those caught engaging in an extramarital affair.
He added, the order is part of the PRO-6 internal cleansing program, apart from policies governing police officers engaged in illegal drugs or corruption.
Earlier this month, Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr. called on members of law enforcement to improve service in light of the recent pay raise granted by President Rodrigo Duterte.
He urged police to never engage in illegal activity and to “do what is right.”/DGB, WDJ
