Negros Occidental Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson recently called the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Law a “painful pill we all have to take,” pointing out commodity prices have risen since implementation of the law.
However, he said revenue from the tax reform law will fund the “Build, Build, Build” program, a plan by the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte, which in turn funds the Negros-Guimaras-Panay Bridge.
“We hope that the bridge that would link Negros to Guimaras to Panay would soon be realized,” the vice governor said.
Meanwhile, as a precaution to discourage business from taking advantage of rising prices, Lacson said local government units should activate price monitoring councils./DGB, WDJ
