Escalante: Consultants costs P600K a month

The Negros Occidental Provincial Board recently renewed contracts for 14 consultants, which permits them to operate from January to December 2018.
The contract renewal process for Dr. Eriberto Layda, however, who serves as a consultant on pathology, is currently suspended.
“In the case of Dr. Layda, we have yet to check on the possibility of double compensation,” explained Board Member Salvador Escalante, Jr. “He is also serving as a consultant [for] the Eleuterio T. Decena Memorial Hospital in Hinoba-an.”
The board member expects to proceed on contract deliberations next week.
Escalante noted, the monthly cost for consultants comes to P600,000, which he insisted is funded by the Salary Standardization Law.
While compensation typically ranges between P42,000 and P52,000 a month, Rafael Coscolluela, who consults on investment promotions, trade and export development and inter-agency coordination, is paid P91,000 a month; the same goes for finance and administrative concerns consultant Roy Balicas./DGB, WDJ
