Tournament intends to help student-athletes earn scholarships –Sports Chief

During a press conference for the 2nd Sagay Men’s Open Championships at the Balay Kauswagan in Sagay City, scheduled to begin today, January 6, at Sagay National High School, Sports Chief Benson Fernandez said the competition intends to help student-athletes earn scholarships.
He noted, the tournament also helps the athletes gain experience.
“This is also an opportunity to present Sagay City, not only as a sports destination, but a tourism potential,” Fernandez added.
In terms of the schedule, Villa Angela FC is expected to meet the Negros Selection in the tournament opener, with Ceres La Salle FC facing University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos FC in the second match, followed by the Sagay North Negros football team against Ateneo de Manila University.
The finals are scheduled for Wednesday, January 10./JSG, WDJ
