The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-Region VI (RTWPB-6) urged employers to comply with the ‘kasambahay’ wage hike, following the approval of Wage Order No. 2 last month.
According to RTWPB-6 representative Wennie Sancho, the policy took effect last week and mandates house helpers throughout the Western Visayas receive a minimum wage of P3,500 per month. He said the hikes constitute a P1,000 raise in cities and first-class municipalities and a P1,500 raise in other municipalities.
He noted, the wages are standardized across all municipality classes, pointing out previous wages for cities and first-class municipalities were P2,500 and P2,000 for others.
“They all deserve to receive higher pay,” said Sancho.
In addition, in order to ensure wage standards are being adhered to, he suggested local governments set up a Kasambahay Help Desk./DGB, WDJ
