The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) has passed a resolution during their regular session last week, requesting the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) to assist enforcers of the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) in managing the traffic flow in the city.
In an email to the WDJ, City Committee on Laws, Ordinances, and Good Government chairman Councilor Caesar Distrito said the BCPO’s Traffic Management Unit (TMU) is also responsible in the maintenance of the flow of traffic in the city streets and in the strict implementation of the traffic rules.
He said despite the efforts made by the city’s traffic enforcers, the TMU is still needed in the strict and proper implementation of the traffic rules and in the apprehension of traffic violators.
“The concerted effort of the BTAO and the TMU in managing the flow of traffic and implementation of traffic rules is urgently needed in order to address once and for all the issues and complaints with regard to the heavy traffic congestions in most parts of the city,” Distrito said.
He added, the resolution also instructs BCPO acting director Police Senior Supt. Jack Wanky to enforce the city’s traffic rules and to maintain police visibility in the streets./WDJ
