Crime volume in Iloilo City dropped by 36 percent with 77 incidents reported during the second week of August 2017 compared to 121 incidents during the same period last year, data from Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) show.
“We can conclude that Iloilo City is generally peaceful,” said ICPO operations chief Supt. Jowel Saliba.
Maximum police deployment in major thoroughfares and places of convergence in the metropolis, such as in Smallville area and Mandurriao district, is one of the factors that contributed to the decrease of the crime volume, said Saliba.
Policemen were deployed at Smallville area during lunchtime until morning of the following day, he added.
Also, each police station in the metropolis is conducting checkpoints and saturation drives, Saliba said./WDJ
