The first public hearing on the welfare of animals in Bacolod City is scheduled for tomorrow, August 4, at 10:00 a.m. in the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) Session Hall at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC), according to Bacolod City Councilor Wilson Gamboa, Jr.
Following the recent passage of an ordinance seeking to promote animal welfare awareness, various programs will also be held in the future, including fora, seminars, workshops, and dialogues.
The City Veterinary Office is mandated to ensure the protection and promotion of animal welfare, including animal rights and the proper handling and transportation of animals.
A P300,000 budget was allocated for the implementation of the ordinance./WDJ
