The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) returned to Iloilo City to host a development meeting related with the ASEAN Social Protection Framework, along with a training facilitated by the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC).
The meeting runs until Friday, April 28.
When the meeting was first announced, Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog credited the job the city did in hosting the 17th ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) and ASEAN’s Good Regulatory Practice Network (GRPN) meetings during last month’s 2017 ASEAN Summit.
“This is because of what we have done and how we were able to provide very dedicated and satisfying services to our visitors during the ASEAN meetings,” he explained.
It was previously reported, Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia, citing Cecilia Villanueva of the National Organizing Committee, claimed his city was also being considered for a future ASEAN meeting.
Bacolod City previously hosted the Senior Officials Responsible for Information (SOMRI) meeting at the SMX Convention Center at SM City Bacolod./WDJ
