2017 Palarong Pambansa Opening ceremonies to take place on Sunday

Around 12,000 student-athletes, coaches, and officials are expected to take part in the 2017 Palarong Pambansa, set to open on Sunday in San Jose, Antique.
Expected to lead the opening rites are Antique Governor Rhodora Cadiao, along with other provincial officials, Senator Loren Legarda, Department of Education Secretary Leonor Briones, and members of the Philippine Sports Commission.
It is also reported President Rodrigo Duterte will be present as a guest of honor.
Among the sports to be featured at the event are archery, arnis, athletics, badminton, baseball, basketball, billiards, boxing, chess, football, futsal, gymnastics, sepak takraw, softball, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, volleyball, wrestling, and wushu.
Dancesports, pencak silat, and aquatic gymnastics are also expected to be featured as demo sports.
A total of 367 gold medals will be at stake during the games./WDJ
