Bacolod Lone District Rep. Greg Gasataya and Negros Occidental Rep. Alfredo Benitez filed a joint bill back on March 13, seeking the construction of a coastal road that would connect Bacolod City to Victorias City.
According to Gasataya, they are still awaiting approval. Meanwhile, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is currently conducting a feasibility study.
Based on the bill, the road would “harness the vast economic potential of the province” and “contribute in improving the quality of life of the Negrenses.”
The road would ease traffic along the Bacolod North Road and mitigate flooding in certain areas, it also noted.
Once completed, the road is set to stretch for 35.85 kilometers./WDJ
