Barangay Estefania was recently recognized by the Regional Rabies Prevention and Control Committee, a division of the Negros Island Region (NIR) Department of Agriculture, for their performance in rabies control and prevention program in 2016.
According to Barangay Estefania health aide Sulpicio Labanza, Jr., they were recognized for their aggressively-conducted vaccination program for dogs in the barangay, particularly strays, or “asong kalye.”
Meanwhile, the Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) recently approved a resolution requesting the Department of Education (DepEd), through Office of Schools Division Superintendent Cynthia Demavivas, to organize educational and social activities to strengthen rabies prevention education and to disseminate information on responsible ownership, immunization, and vaccination of pets./WDJ
