Following the groundbreaking for the 21-kilometer Bacolod Economic Highway in February, clearing projects for the roadway’s construction are currently underway, to which Bacolod Lone District Rep. Greg Gasataya thanked landowners for the expropriation of their land in order to facilitate construction.
“We appreciate the cooperation from landowners,” he said. “Several may have realized the value of their lands will benefit from the project.”
The project is expected to cost a total of P4.8 billion and is scheduled to be completed in May 2018. The highway will start as four-lane road, but the congressman insists it will eventually expand to eight lanes.
Upon completion, the road will connect four national roads, namely the Bacolod South Road, the Bacolod City Boundary Road, the Bacolod San Carlos Road, and the Circumferential Road./WDJ
