Following the Philippine National Police (PNP) plan to hire an additional 10,000 new police officers nationwide, the Negros Island Region (NIR) is expected to receive an additional 850 officers.
The recruitment program is part of the 2017 Police Officer 1 (PO1) Recruitment Program by PNP Director General Ronald dela Rosa, wherein 150 of the 850 NIR slots are reserved for PO1s.
According to a recent memorandum from the PNP Directorate for Personnel and Records Management, excess applicants from last year’s PO1 recruitment will be given priority and the number of female applicants must reflect between 10 and 20 percent of the annual quota.
Vice Chair and Executive Officer of the National Police Commission Rogelio Casurao discussed how officers are allocated, explaining, “[They are] usually calculated in order to strengthen public safety forces in identified police regional offices and, therefore, based on the peace and order situation in these areas.”/WDJ
