Two people were arrested yesterday afternoon after drug enforcement units from Police Station 2 (PS2) conducted a buy-bust operation at Purok Ylac, Barangay 1.
Police identified the alleged drug personalities as 46-year-old Julio Maratas and Arnold Soberon, 41, both residents of the said barangay.
PS2 commander, Police Chief Inspector Benedicto Villarias, said Maratas, the subject of their operation, failed to surrender to their station after urging him to stop his drug dealings as part of “Oplan: Tokhang.”
They decided to conduct the operation upon receiving information suggesting he was still operating his illicit business.
Cops arrested Maratas after handing one sachet of suspected shabu to a police poseur buyer.
They also arrested Soberon, who was in the suspect’s residence at the time of the incident.
Soberon admitted he is using illegal drugs in order to fight sleepiness when he is working.
Police recovered one big and two elongated sachets of suspected shabu, estimated to be worth around P20,000 to P25,000; an undisclosed amount of suspected drug money; and drug paraphernalia.
Both Soberon and Maratas are detained at PS2 and are facing illegal drugs charges./WDJ
