Construction of the P367 million Araneta-Magsaysay flyover project will start on March 27, according to City’s District Engineering Office Public Information Officer, Assistant District Engineer Leah Jamero.
She explained the implementation of the second Bacolod City flyover was delayed as they first had to settle the “right of way” of the road before construction could commence.
Jamero added, in terms of traffic-related issues, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) District Engineer Abraham Villareal already coordinated with the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO).
The two inner lanes will be utilized for the construction, while the remaining outer lanes along Araneta Avenue will remain open to traffic, she explained.
“It will be a two-lane 195 meter permanent modular flyover,” Jamero said.
Yesterday, BTAO released a traffic advisory, noting future rerouting may be implemented depending on the situation.
They suggested, for motorists heading to Alijis and southern area of Bacolod City, to use the Taculing-Alijis Bridge or the Lacson Extension, located at the back of the Goldenfield Commercial Complex, as an alternate route.
BTAO also suggested, for those from Magsungay, Singcang-Airport, Calong-Calong, and Villa Esperanza, to use Arnaldo Street up to Barangay 35 when heading into the downtown area and the northern part of the city.
“The installation will last for about eight months,” Jamero added./WDJ
