According to an official from United States Agency for International Development (USAID), many of the water problems in Metro Iloilo have been reduced following the work conducted through their Water Security for Resilient Economic Growth and Stability Project (Be Secure Project).
According to Be Secure team leader Elisea Gozun, her agency helped forge an agreement between Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPIC) and Metro Iloilo Water District (MIWD), which the agency has been provided technical assistance over the past four years.
Gozun reported Be Secure was able to draft a blueprint for reducing water loss, rehabilitate water pipelines for distribution, and to integrate climate change adaptation elements.
“We also helped them create an emergency response plan and understand water demand management,” she added.
Be Secure is set to end projects in both Iloilo and Leyte this year./WDJ
