A jeepney driver was gunned down, yesterday morning, at Purok Camansi, Barangay Banago, Bacolod City.
Police identified the fatality as Ephraim Payas, a native of Silay City residing at Purok Tinagong Paraiso in the said barangay.
According to the victim’s relative, Payas was in the area to get his vehicle fixed at a vulcanizing shop.
Witnesses, meanwhile, said a yellow-colored jeepney arrived in front of the shop with two men aboard.
When Payas saw the two suspects, he picked up a rock and threw it at the suspects’ vehicle.
One of the suspects dismounted the vehicle and hit Payas with a steel pole. He was then shot three to four times with an unknown caliber of firearm.
Payas died on the scene after sustaining gunshot wounds to the head and body.
Police are still trying to determine the motive behind the shooting./WDJ
