According to the Negros Island Regional Development Council (NIRDC), San Carlos City, Sagay City, and Hinoba-an were named “key growth centers” in Negros Occidental. Meanwhile, Tanjay City and Bayawan City were given the same moniker for Negros Oriental.
Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce, Inc. (MBCCI) Governor Frank Carbon described the term as a place expecting to see major development over the next three to five years.
Earlier this month, Carbon, who chairs the Negros Occidental Provincial Development Council (PDC) Infrastructure Development Committee, submitted a proposal before the PDC naming the same Negros Occidental local government units as Sub-Provincial Key Development Centers for Negros Island Region (NIR).
In both meetings with the PDC and NIRDC, an inter-provincial road connecting Sagay City, Toboso, Calatrava, and Don Salvador Benedicto was discussed. Alongside a proposed extension of the Bacolod-Silay Airport Access Road, Carbon believes it would benefit local farmers by providing them with an access road./WDJ
