Commission on Elections (Comelec) for Negros Occidental Provincial Election Supervisor Jessie Suarez said they had a “good turnout” of registrants for the special registrations for women in the cities of Bacolod, Talisay, and Silay in preparation of the anticipated barangay elections in October of this year.
In a phone interview with Suarez, yesterday morning, he noted high turnout in Barangays Granada, Alangilan, Montevista, Estefania, and Villamonte in Bacolod City.
He noted some men also appeared in order to register, but priority was given to women, as part of the celebration of the International Women’s Day.
The provincial Comelec head also said they are planning several other special registration events, including one for nurses, scheduled for this month.
Comelec has also designated several satellite registrations in different barangays and is also prepared to implement registrations in schools.
Suarez added they will conduct satellite registrations in malls before the scheduled deadline on April 29./WDJ
