One of the suspects in the robbery and rape of a female call center agent was arrested at Police Station 7 (PS7), yesterday afternoon.
The case had previously been reported as a sexual assault.
The suspect, identified as 42-year-old Virgilio Villaflor of Barangay Minoyan, Murcia, came to the police station after his sibling told him the police were searching for him.
Villaflor arrived at PS7, where the victim positively identified him as one of the suspects, leading to his arrest.
In an interview with Villaflor, he denied any involvement in the incident, claiming he is not a tricycle driver but a jeepney driver along the Mansilingan-Central Market route.
He claimed he was at home with his family, in Murcia, at the time of the incident.
The suspect’s brother, Rodolfo, claimed his brother has a lookalike who works as a tricycle driver at Regent Pearl Homes Subdivision in Barangay Alijis.
Meanwhile, the victim’s husband, identified only as Ruben, recalled what happened to his wife in an interview with Bombo Radyo-Bacolod.
Ruben, who was emotional during the interview, said he was supposed to escort his wife to her workplace along Lacson Street.
He also expressed his pain for what happened and is seeking justice.
Last Wednesday, the call center agent was allegedly robbed and raped by two tricycle riding suspects.
The victim was initially picked up at Purok San Jose, Barangay Alijis, and requested to be brought to her workplace.
Upon reaching Barangay Taculing, however, the suspects held her at gun and knifepoint.
The suspects brought her to Barangay Mansilingan, where she was allegedly raped and robbed by the two, before dropping her off to La Salle Ville Subdivision in the said barangay.
Villaflor is now under the custody of PS7 and is being probed by investigators./WDJ
