The Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Ceneco) scheduled elections for Board of Director in Districts 4, 5, and 8 (Talisay City) this weekend, however, the first two districts were unable to produce qualified candidates to run.
In the District 4 election, which covers Bacolod City-East that includes Barangays Villamonte, Montevista, Alangilan, Granada, Estefania, Vista Alegre, Mansilingan, and Abkasa, former Board of Director Roy Cordova and General Alliance of Workers Association (GAWA) Secretary-General Wennie Sancho both announced their intentions to run.
However, according to Ceneco Public Relations Officer Malou Parroco, Cordova was disqualified following a case surrounding a delayed refund of P159,000 to the National Electrification Administration, while Sancho failed to submit a certification from the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-Region VI (RTWPB-6), where he is affiliated.
For District 5, which is comprised of Bacolod City-West, including Barangays 8-16, 21, 34-39, and Singcang-Airport, no qualified candidates stepped forward.
Meanwhile, in District 8 (Talisay), Noel Alarcon is running unopposed.
Last year, the candidates in Districts 1, 6, and 9 all ran unopposed./WDJ
