When asked about the recent motion by Senator Manny Pacquiao to strip Liberal Party (LP) members, along with Akbayan Senator Risa Hontiveros, of chairmanship positions in the Philippine Senate, Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr. refused to comment on the issue.
“It is an internal arrangement among senators,” he noted.
However, the governor did express his belief that President Rodrigo Duterte is still very popular and dismissed rumors surrounding plots to oust the president.
“We should always stay positive and avoid hurling bad words,” Marañon advised.
Over the weekend, during the anniversary of EDSA People Power, former President Benigno Aquino III denied the LP was plotting Duterte’s ouster, calling it “foolishness.”/WDJ
