Comelec to observe National Women’s Day with registration event

Commission on Elections (Comelec) Provincial Supervisor, Atty. Jessie Suarez, confirmed, with March 8 designated as National Women’s Day, according to RA 6949, the provincial agency will be participating in the nationwide registration event prioritizing women who wish to register to vote.
“We will be open and give priority to women in Comelec offices,” he said.
Sixteen cities and one municipality will be taking part in the event.
National Women’s Month, which runs throughout the month of March, carries a theme this year of “WE Make Change Work for Women,” which, according to a statement from the Philippine Commission on Women, emphasizes, “True compassion and real change can only be achieved when women and men work hand-in-hand to foster an environment that is empowering to both sexes.”/WDJ
