
The San Miguel Beermen are off to a strong start in the PBA Season 50 Governors’ Cup after pulling away for a 123-109 win over Macau on Tuesday evening, July 14, at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
Playing without June Mar Fajardo, the Beermen fell behind by as many as 11 points but turned the game around in the second half.
They trailed 58-53 at the break but outscored the Giant Pandas, 36-28, in the third quarter to take control of the game, 89-86.
It was all San Miguel in the fourth quarter, with Rodney Brondial and import George King helping the Beermen surge to an 18-point advantage.
King fired 30 points in his Beermen debut, while dishing out seven of San Miguel’s 29 assists.
CJ Perez struggled with his shot but still finished with 21 points, while Brondial earned Player of the Game honors with a 10-point, 25-rebound effort.
Jericho Cruz added 20 points off the bench.
De’Vondre Perry had 25 points on 27 shots for Macau, which dropped to 0-2 in Group B of the conference. (ABS-CBN News)
