University of Santo Tomas (UST) stars Kent Pastrana and Brigette Santos, National University (NU) standouts Ann Pingol and Tin Cayabyab, and Ateneo de Manila University’s Kacey dela Rosa have been named to the Collegiate Press Corps (CPC) UAAP Season 88 Women’s Basketball Mythical Team.
The five players will be honored during the CPC Awards Night at Discovery Suites Manila in Pasig City on June 29.
Pastrana capped her collegiate career by leading UST to its second women’s basketball championship in three seasons.
The veteran winger averaged 16.21 points, 6.78 rebounds, 4.36 assists, 2.57 steals, and 0.5 blocks during the elimination round, earning her fourth UAAP Elite Team selection.
The 5-foot-7 player from Negros Occidental’s Victorias City also claimed finals MVP honors after averaging 13 points, 7.7 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 3.8 steals in UST’s three-game championship series victory over NU.
Joining Pastrana on the Mythical Team is fellow UST Growling Tigress Santos, who averaged 10.29 points, 3.71 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.5 steals in Season 88.
NU’s Pingol, the league’s Most Valuable Player, also earned a spot on the prestigious list.
Pingol became the first Lady Bulldog to win the UAAP women’s basketball MVP award since Jack Animam in Season 80 in 2017 after posting averages of 14.28 points, 8.9 rebounds, 5.14 assists, 3.57 steals, and 1.07 blocks.
Her teammate Cayabyab was likewise selected after averaging 17 points, 5.07 rebounds, 2.64 assists, and 2.2 steals throughout the season.
Completing the Mythical Team is Ateneo’s Dela Rosa, last year’s CPC Player of the Year and a two-time UAAP MVP.
Dela Rosa dominated the statistical race in Season 88, averaging 18.36 points, 14.64 rebounds, 2.58 blocks, 2.36 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.
