The Election Registration Board (ERB) of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Bacolod City disapproved at least 83 voter registration applications during its deliberations from June 1 to 5.
Comelec-Bacolod officer Kathrina Trinio-Caña said the ERB evaluated a total of 8,000 applications from April to May 18, 2026.
Of the number, 23 applicants were summoned by Comelec due to inconsistencies in their documents.
Fourteen applications were disapproved, while nine were approved.
She said some of the applicants had been relocated to other barangays in the city.
Trinio-Caña said a resident from Barangay 9 earlier filed a request to oppose the registration of 42 residents from the village.
Of these, 36 applications were disapproved, while only six were approved.
Based on the national voters’ verification results, 15 other applications were disapproved because the applicants already had existing registrations in other cities or municipalities.
In addition, nine overseas voters and nine applicants with double registrations were also disapproved.
Trinio-Caña said the disapproved applicants may reapply during the next voter registration period using their correct residence information.
The ERB is chaired by Trinio-Caña, with representatives from the Civil Registrar’s Office and the Department of Education in Bacolod serving as members.
As of June 19, Bacolod has a total of 361 registered voters./MAP, WDJ
