A 24-year-old college student has been facing murder charges following the alleged killing of a 36-year-old senior high school teacher inside the latter’s home in Bacolod City’s Barangay Alijis on June 12.
Police Station 7 chief Captain Jay-R Reyes said the suspect, whose identity is being withheld, has been charged with murder before the City Prosecutor’s Office.
The suspect, a resident of Barangay Alijis, was earlier reported to be a Grade 12 student.
Reyes said police received a report of a commotion at the teacher’s house, where the victim was found unconscious on the floor.
Police said the suspect was arrested inside the house and admitted that he forced the teacher to drink a strong chemical while they were having a drinking session.
Prior to the incident, the suspect claimed that the victim had asked him to drink the acid.
However, he managed to resist and instead forced the victim to drink it.
Reyes said investigators are looking into a personal grudge as a possible motive for the killing.
Before the incident, the suspect allegedly borrowed money from the victim.
The suspect is detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 7./MAP, WDJ
