The Bacolod City government has asked the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Central Office to intensify its campaign against unregistered motorcycles operating in the city.

City Administrator Mark Steven Mayo said the LTO should adopt more proactive measures against unregistered motorcycles.

He said it has been observed that most crimes in the city are perpetrated by suspects using motorcycles.

“The suspects were using motorcycles without license plates attached, making it more difficult and time-consuming to resolve crimes,” he added.

Mayo noted that the LTO can also issue temporary conduction stickers to motorcycle owners as a measure to address this concern.

“Once they have a conduction sticker, it is easier for us to identify and locate the driver involved in a crime incident,” Mayo said.

He also suggested that business establishments selling motorcycles in Bacolod should strictly guide their customers and clients in registering their motorcycles.

Mayo said that many of the problems encountered involve second owners of motorcycles who fail to register the units under their names.

He disclosed that the city government will also hold a meeting with the Permits and Licensing Division regarding the inspection of business establishments in various barangays./MAP, WDJ
