A 56-year-old laborer was found dead inside his residence at Barangay Cabacungan in Negros Occidental’s La Castellana town at around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10.

La Castellana police said a concerned neighbor informed them upon discovering the victim unresponsive inside his home at Purok 3.

Based on the inquiry, the neighbor had not seen the victim for several days and decided to check on him while bringing food, aware that he had been suffering from an illness.

After repeatedly calling out and receiving no response, she entered the residence and found the victim already lifeless.

Further investigation revealed that the victim had been diagnosed with tuberculosis and had been battling the illness for more than five years.

Authorities also noted that his immediate family members reside far from his home, resulting in him living alone.

The victim’s remains were later brought to a funeral home.

Authorities continue to document the case, which is currently considered a possible natural death./CCJ, WDJ
