The Roselyn Jean Pelle Command (RJPC) of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Northern Negros claimed it carried out the killing of an alleged police intelligence asset in Negros Occidental’s Calatrava town.

In a statement released yesterday, RJPC identified the victim as Momarlito Alingasa, who, it said, was executed at 7:50 p.m. at Sitio Pison, Barangay Minautok on Saturday, June 6.

The rebel group claimed Alingasa put up a fight, leading to an exchange of gunfire before he was neutralized.

According to the NPA, items recovered from Alingasa included suspected illegal drugs, an intelligence identification card, cash, a .45 caliber pistol, and ammunition, photos of which were attached to the release.

The RJPC said Alingasa was sentenced to death by a “people’s court” over alleged multiple offenses, the group’s spokesperson Ka Cecil Estrella said.

They accused him of being an active informant tasked with monitoring and suppressing NPA activities and civilians advocating for rights, as well as being a rapist, illegal drug seller and hired gun.

It listed several alleged crimes attributed to him: the killing of a farmer in Toboso on orders from a landowner; harassment of residents in Barangay Marcello; the slaughter of villagers’ carabaos; and the murder of an activist leader in Barangay Minautok.

The statement also alleged that military and police personnel assigned with the 79th Infantry Battalion were involved in the drug trade — a claim that runs counter to the official mandate of government security forces.

The NPA added that while it prohibits the use and sale of illegal drugs, it resorts to punitive action only when individuals repeatedly commit offenses that cause significant harm to communities.

The group concluded by vowing to continue its brand of “revolutionary justice” against what it called exploitative officials, the government and security personnel./CCJ, WDJ
