Bacolod City Administrator Mark Mayo confirmed yesterday that the city government will donate at least four hectares of government-owned land at Abada Escay in Barangay Vista Alegre for the permanent headquarters of the Police Regional Office in the Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR).
“The city signified its intent to donate at least four hectares to the PRO-NIR,” Mayo said.
He said Mayor Greg Gasataya had already approved former PRO-NIR Director Brigadier General Arnold Thomas Ibay’s request to establish the permanent headquarters at a relocation site.
The city government has an available lot of at least 17 hectares in Abada Escay.
Mayo noted that they will conduct a survey to determine the viable and beneficial area for the police and the city government.
“We want to maintain and improve the peace and order situation in the city. That’s why we entertained their request,” Mayo said.
The PRO-NIR is temporarily holding office inside the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office compound in Barangay Estefania./MAP, WDJ
