Suspect in election day shooting held

The Police Regional Office in the Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) arrested the region’s No. 1 Most Wanted Person allegedly involved in an election-related shooting incident during a manhunt operation at Barangay Rizal in Negros Occidental’s Silay City on Thursday, May 28.

The suspect, identified by police as 43-year-old alias “Clar,” is a resident of La Castellana’s Barangay Robles.

The arrest was carried out by operatives of Silay police, in coordination with the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office through the service of warrants of arrest issued for six counts of frustrated murder and two counts of attempted murder.

Based on initial police information, the suspect and his co-accused were allegedly involved in a shooting that left two individuals dead, and eight others injured during the conduct of national elections on May 12, 2025.

PRO-NIR described the operation as part of its continuing manhunt efforts against high-profile fugitives, emphasizing sustained intelligence-driven operations aimed at apprehending wanted persons and strengthening law enforcement visibility across the region./CJ, WDJ
