A 39-year-old man was shot dead by unidentified assailants riding a motorcycle at Purok Nami Nami in Bacolod City’s Barangay Banago on Wednesday night, May 27.

The victim was identified as Victor Hermano, a resident of GK Village in Zone 3’s Purok Tinagong Paraiso.

Police Captain Rosalino Pugoy, Bacolod City Police Office’s Station 3 chief, said CCTV footage showed the victim walking along the roadside when two men riding in tandem suddenly opened fire at him.

Residents in the area reported hearing two gunshots before the suspects fled towards an unknown direction.

Authorities have yet to determine the type of firearm used in the attack.

Initial investigation revealed that Hermano sustained gunshot wounds to the chest and abdomen, which caused his death.

Neighbors of the victim claimed that Hermano allegedly suffered from a mental illness and was reportedly involved in frequent disturbances within the community.

Police are continuing their investigation to determine the motive behind the killing and identify the suspects responsible for the crime./CJ, WDJ
