A Philippine Army general underscored the growing demand for peace and effective governance among communities in Panay and Negros, citing recent gains in security operations across the region.

Commanding General Lt. General Antonio Nafarrete said residents are increasingly weary of violence and unproductive activities, noting a shift in public sentiment toward stability and development.

“Ito ang nagpapatunay na ang Negros, pagod na sa mga ginagawa na mga wala namang kwenta. They want to have good governance,” Nafarrete said, reflecting the public’s frustration over continued conflict.

Speaking during the anniversary celebration of the Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division, Nafarrete said communities are now prioritizing order and long-term progress.

He pointed to successful operations, including those conducted in Negros Occidental’s Toboso town, as indicators of strengthened peace and order efforts in the region.

Nafarrete attributed these gains to close coordination among the military, local government units, communities, and the media, which he said has been crucial in maintaining stability.

He also expressed confidence that sustained collaboration will further reinforce peace initiatives and support long-term development in Panay and Negros, as communities increasingly call for an end to violence and a focus on good governance./CJ, WDJ
