The NLEX Road Warriors handed Macau another painful loss on Tuesday night, April 14, pulling away for a 106-97 victory at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
This was NLEX’s third straight win in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup, hiking their record to 5-1.
Macau, meanwhile, dropped to 0-7 after yet another close defeat that saw them get close in crunch time only to fall short.
A four-pointer by Jenning Leung had made it a three-point game, 100-97, with still 55 seconds to play.
But Schonny Winston responded with a triple of his own on NLEX’s next possession, knocking down the clutch shot off a kickout by JB Bahio. To make matters worse for Macau, Meng Sun fouled Winston on the play.
The former La Salle standout completed the four-point play for a 104-97 lead with 35 seconds to go, and the Black Knights had no answer.
NLEX import Cady Lalanne made nine of his 18 field goals for 28 points on top of 18 rebounds, while Winston was the top-scoring local with 24 points.
Robert Bolick pulled the strings for NLEX, putting up 17 points and 11 assists.
Tony Mitchell led Macau with 32 points and 11 rebounds in close to 48 minutes of playing time. (ABS-CBN News)
